First Steel band in Lancaster
Bowerham school have just started the first steel band ever in lancaster.
The kids from the Primary school have lit the fuse, and are flourishing
under the direstion of Sue Dougherty, their music teacher. Andy has acted
as
consultant on the purchase of the pans, and is looking to start a Community
band based at the school.
Any adult or teenager - whether they have any music experience or not - can
play steel pans, and is welcome to come along.
They will find that pan playing generates a powerful vibe - and can take it
from the Milnthorpe band, which has now been going for ten glorious years,
that once tried, you'll find it hard to stop!
